Does More Variety Always Help Digestion?
Not necessarily. If you have a known sensitivity to FODMAPs or histamine, adding ten new plant species overnight can backfire. The key is gradual introduction. I learned this the hard way after a weekend of wild mushroom foraging and three types of fermented cabbage left me bloated for days. The microbiome needs time to adapt to new fibres. Start with one unfamiliar vegetable per week, observe your symptoms, and only add another when you’re comfortable.
